WORCESTER-Sigmund “Ziggy” Sigel, 88, of 46 Anderson Avenue, died Monday, July 25 in U MASS Memorial Healthcare after a brief illness. He leaves a brother Joseph A. Sigel, Jr. of Holden, a sister, Bertha S., wife of Matthew DiPierro of Worcester, many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Adam E. Sigel and two sisters, Helen Edukajtis and Jennie Zona.
He was born in Worcester the son of Joseph A. and Stacia (Dobrowska) Sigel. Mr. Sigel worked for US Steel and Wire for many years retiring in 1975. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
A service will be held on Friday, July 29 at 10:00 AM in CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Calling hours are Thursday, July 28 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
