New Bedford – Maria daGloria Pacheco, age 93, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care. She was the loving wife of the late Jose T. Pacheco and the daughter of the late Mariano Teixeira and Deolinda Araujo.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, Mrs. Pacheco came to this country in 1963 where she worked as a Stitcher for many years. After her retirement, she volunteered most of her time at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mrs. Pacheco loved animals, gardening and sewing but most of all, loved being in the company of her family.
She is survived by 2 children: Leonora M. Mendoza and her husband, David, of E. Freetown; and John A. Pacheco and his wife, Debra, of Fairhaven; grandchildren: Daniel Pacheco and Sara Masotta, wife of Demis; as well several nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by 2 siblings: Manuel Araujo and Joao Araujo.
Her funeral will be Thursday here at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
