Obituary

James P. Gallivan - Of Dedham formerly of Mattapan, July 23. Beloved husband of Mary T. (Flynn) Gallivan. Devoted father of Patrick Gallivan and his wife Leah of Milton, Joseph Gallivan and his wife Cathy of Dedham, Mary Kate Haswell and her husband Joseph of Walpole. Loving grandfather of James, Jack, Mary Alice and Brianna Gallivan, Jullian, Molly, and Joanna Haswell. Brother of Edward Gallivan of Yarmouthport, Charles Gallivan of Dedham, Marion Gallivan & Patricia Cronin both of Walpole.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St, DEDAHM, Wednesday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church Dedham, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Monday 7-9, Tuesday 4-8. Interment Holyhood Cemetery Brookline. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James' memory to the Alzheimers Assoc, 36 Cameron Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140.

Late WW II Veteran US Coast Guard. Graduate of Hyde Park High School, Boston College Class of 1950. Served on the USS General MC Meigs. He was the former Chief of the engineering standardization division of the Army Research Center, Watertown Arsenal where he was recognized by the Pentagon for his work with metals and received a life time achievement award. Mr. Gallivan played Semi-Pro baseball and basketball and coached youth sports for three generations.
