Obituary

CHICOPEE – Albert Michaud, 80, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 30, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Clair, New Brunswick, Canada on November 2, 1935, a beloved son of the late Henri and Marie (Kennedy) Michaud. He was raised and schooled in Canada and moved to Holyoke in 1961. He later moved to Walter Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee where he lived for 43 years before moving to Chicopee Falls in 2009. He served his country in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private First Class. He was employed for 35 years and retired as a supervisor at the former Parsons Paper Mill in Holyoke. He later worked at Hampden Paper Company and Alcon Waste, both in Holyoke. He was a member of Elder Council 69, Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, both in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Rita G. (Banville) Michaud. They were married on October 28, 1961 in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Michael J. Michaud and his wife, Carolyn, of Old Saybrook, CT, Linda M. Roberts and her husband, Arthur, of Chicopee, and Brenda L. O’Connor and her husband, Brian, of Granby; his five cherished grandchildren, Carly Michaud, Kyle Roberts, Daniel Roberts and his fiancée, Miranda Pothier, Andrew O’Connor and Audrey O’Connor; his cherished great-granddaughter, Bridget Roberts-Barry; his four dear brothers, Armand, Gerard, Lucien and Roger Michaud; his six dear sisters, Cecile Chapman, Anita Morin, Rita Blanchette, Gertrude Thibodeau, Jeannine Michaud and Georgette Soucy; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Michaud and Banville families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother and two dear sisters, Benoit Michaud, Germaine Martin and Ursule Michaud. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. His burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
