Walter Alden Morse, Sr., age 80, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, formerly of Holbrook and Hyde Park passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Cecelia A. (Nessar) Morse, to whom he was wed for 52 years.
Born in Boston, MA on September 11, 1935, he was a loving son of the late John A. and Edna (Murray) Morse.
Walter grew up in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School. He proudly served his country for four years as a member of the United States Army.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Morse had been employed for over twenty-five years as a K-9 Police Officer for the M.B.T.A. in Boston and was a member of the U.S. K-9 Police Association as well.
Walter was an avid Boston Red Sox fan both while living in Massachusetts and also for the past fifteen years while residing in Florida. He enjoying attending yard sales, collecting sports memorabilia, and most of all loved spending time with his family who always came first and had a special place in his heart for his dogs.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted sons John J. Morse of Woonsocket, RI and Walter A. Morse, Jr. of Scituate, MA. He was the dear brother of the late John “Jack” Morse and Sonia Thorne, and is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Chase A. Morse and Noah O. Morse.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, August 5th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 11:00 A.M. at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High St., Canton.
