Antonio Bordonaro, 69 of Somerville, died Tuesday in the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Augusta, Sicily, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and the late Giuseppina (DiGaetano) Bordonaro.
Mr. Bordonaro was a Somerville resident for forty years formerly of Augusta, Sicily where he was born and raised. He worked for many years as a Master Boat Builder, specializing in fine wooden fishing vessels. It was in Sicily as a young boy he served as an apprentice learning and developing the the skills from master craftsmen that he would need to become a Master Boat Builder. He retired in 1987.
Antonio is survived by his beloved wife Lidia (Solano). Their children, Joanne Lebruto and her husband Alexander of North Andover, Joseph Bordonaro of Washington, D.C. and Robert Bordonaro and his wife Christine of Winchester. Loving grandfather of triplet grandchildren, Christine, Alexander and Elizabeth Lebruto. Brother of Paolo Bordonaro of Sicily the late Domenico, Sebastiano and Angelo Bordonaro. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
