Shirley Teresa (Owens) Mulvaney, age 90, of N. Andover, formerly a 50-year resident of Winchester, passed away on July 27, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Mulvaney.
Born in Haverhill, Shirley was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Teresa (Lynch) Owens. She graduated from Salem State College in 1947 with a B.S. in education and began her teaching career. Mrs. Mulvaney taught at Muraco Elementary School in Winchester from 1969-1985.
In Winchester, Shirley was active in the local community as a member of the En Ka Society. In her spare time she played golf and tennis, and enjoyed membership at the Winchester Swim & Tennis Club.
Mrs. Mulvaney is survived by her children: Patricia M. Linnemann and her husband Roger E. of Andover, John E. Mulvaney, Jr. and wife Patricia of Bow, NH, Mark J. Mulvaney and wife Hunter Pynchon of Middleton, and Philip J. Mulvaney of Roseville, CA. She was also the dear sister of Constance Mulvaney of Haverhill, and the devoted grandmother of Jack, Emma and Claire Mulvaney, Patrick, John, Sarah and Alex Linnemann and William Mulvaney and great-grandmother of Jack Linnemann.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 29 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours are omitted. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the En Ka Society 1037 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890.
