Bernice E. Carter, 87 , of Londonderry NH died July 22, 2005 in the Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health. She was born in Jamestown, NY on August 21, 1917, a daughter of Charles W. and Agnes (Jacobson) Wright. She was raised in Jamestown and lived in Reading MA for many years. Mrs. Carter resided in Londonderry for the past twenty one years. She was a former member of the Old South United Methodist Church of Reading MA. Her husband of 62 years, Winworth C. Carter died in February 1997.
Bernice was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed collecting, buying and selling antiques. Family members include two daughters, Beryl Payneau of Londonderry and Lisa Forsyth and her husband Daniel of Chester NH; three grandchildren, Phillip D. Forsyth of Chester, Colleen E. Forsyth of Chester and Ann V. Payneau of Londonderry. She was pre-deceased by a son, Winworth C. Carter Jr. in 1951.
A calling hour was held on Tuesday, July 26th from 10 to 11 AM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The funeral ceremony followed at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Following cremation, urn burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta, ME.
