WORCESTER-James E. Williams, Sr., 78, of 1050 Main Street, formerly of 87 Mayfield Street, died Friday, July 22nd in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Alberta (Johnson) Williams, 2 sons, James E. Williams, Jr. of Worcester and George C. Williams of Oxford, a daughter, Angela F. Williams of Oxford, a sister, Lois M. Cato of Boston, a granddaughter, Catrina F. Williams, many nephews, nieces and cousins. A brother, Isaac Williams predeceased him.
He was born in Richmond, VA the son of Isaac and Sallie L. (Hayes) Williams and step-son of, William D. Perkins and served as a Navy veteran of WWII. He attended Commerce High School, Syracuse University and earned a bachelor degree in accounting from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI. Mr. Williams worked as a self employed certified public accountant for 31 years until retirement. Previously he worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for Harr Ford for 10 years. He was a devout Catholic, fanatic sports fan and played baseball, basketball and football at all 3 schools he attended.
The funeral is Tuesday, July 26th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
