Obituary

Charles R. “Jack” Talley, 87, of Chula passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Larry Layfield and Rev. Tommy Davis officiating. Mr. Talley will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Talley’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Born December 22, 1928 in Chula, Mr. Talley was the son of the late Martin Lee Talley and Minnie Lee Fuller Talley. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. He was a retired farmer and member of the First Baptist Church in Chula. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years and was a founding member of the Chuster Club in Chula. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Talley is survived by his wife, Pauline Fender Talley of Chula; one son, Chuck Talley of Tifton; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Paula Talley of Chula, Gina and Alvin Landress of Brookfield, Lynn and Keith Lee of Chula, Sharon and Jamie Jameson of California and Cherry and Donnie Smith of Enigma; eight grandchildren, Angel Martin, Kimberly Tibbetts, Savannah, Blake and Michael Talley, Kurt and Ryan Smith, Chance Pettiford; and seven great-grandchildren, Zoey Martin, Alek Smith, Kailin Smith, Kaliann Smith, Patrick Tibbetts, Bristol Tibbetts and Jack Tibbetts.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
