Obituary

Milford – Jeanne P. (Lindahl) Tiernan of Birmingham Court, Milford, died peacefully surrounded by family on July 12, 2016 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was 88 years old.

Jeanne was born on September 12, 1927 in Framingham, Massachusetts to Esther Mae (Bemis) and Carl Oscar Lindahl. Jeanne spent her childhood in Millis and Milford before moving to Hopedale. She graduated from Hopedale High School and the Pondville School of Nursing. She spent many years compassionately caring for the mentally ill at Wrentham State School. She also worked at the Milford Hospital and the former Milford Medical Home.

Jeanne was the beloved matriarch of a large and close-knit family, affectionately known as “Big Nana” to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley C. Tiernan who died in 1993 and a son-in-law Anthony M. Giuliano who died in 2005. She leaves her 4 beloved children, Janette L. Giuliano of Brewster, MA; Elaine S. Ficco and her husband Guido of North Kingston, RI; Lynne C. Salmon and her husband Charles of East Douglas, MA; and Mark S. Tiernan and his wife, Lyna of Ayer, MA. She leaves her 3 sisters, Cynthia, Meredith and Dawn and also leaves her dear friend Claire Capstick of Norwood, MA and many friends at Birmingham Court, Milford.

Jeanne was an avid reader, loved her crossword puzzles and all of her family. Per her request and typical of her unselfish desires, she has donated her body to the UMass Medical School so that others may benefit.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no calling hours or services. Her family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
