FALL RIVER – Duarte M. Medeiros, age 64 of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 18th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Santo Antonio Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, he was the beloved husband of Maria Norvinda (Goncalo) Medeiros and the son of the late José Medeiros and Maria de Lourdes Medeiros. Prior to retiring, Duarte worked as a Fiberglass Technician, was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church and an avid Benfica fan.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters: Christine Viveiros (husband Steven) of Swansea and Nina Medeiros (husband Louie) of Somerset; grandchildren: Jacob “Big Boy” Viveiros, Zachary “Little Boy” Viveiros, and Noah “Baby Boy” Medeiros; siblings: José, Gabriel, Eugenia Medeiros, Maria dos Anjos Cabral, & Teresa Arruda; many nieces & nephews.
An appropriate Valentine’s birthday for an honest man with an enormous heart. Always the life of the party and made others laugh. A happy man. Didn’t take life too seriously. Cared for nothing more than his family. His wife was the love of his life. His daughters were his love and pride. His grandsons were everything to him. He enjoyed most being in the presence of his family and nothing more than this. This is how he is remembered; a caring, loving, and fun family man. The best a man can be.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Cremation to follow. Calling hours on Friday 4-8 P.M.
