Rev. Raymond P. McCarthy, CSSR, age 95, a Redemptorist Priest, died peacefully on July 15, 2016, at Mount Sinai Hospital West in Manhattan. He was the beloved son of the late Francis and Katherine (Brennan) McCarthy.
Born, raised and educated in Boston, Father McCarthy served as a missionary priest in South America for more than 25 years, primarily in Brazil. Upon his return to the United States he was sent to New York. He has since that time worked with the Order’s investments. He was a dedicated Redemptorist and a truly devout and caring man.
Predeceased by a brother, Francis McCarthy, and sisters Mary Ann McCarthy, Margaret Sullivan, Dorothy McCarthy, Eleanor Matule, Alice DiCiaccio, Katherine Haverty and Anne Wiley. He is survived by his nieces and nephews and their families, and many devoted friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Concelebrated in the Mission Church, Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston, on Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
