Richard J. Murphy passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 9, 2016. He grew up in Charlestown and had lived in Dorchester prior to his move to Quincy 32 years ago. Mr. Murphy retired from Garber Brothers Inc., Stoughton after a 35 year employment. A caring and devoted husband, “Richie” was a mild natured man who possessed a great wit and loved to laugh. He faced life’s challenges with a smile on his face and a kind word for all. He will be greatly missed. The devoted son of the late John and Mary Murphy, he is survived by his beloved wife Susan M. (Thompson) Murphy, his brother & sisters-in-law; Michael and Christine Timmons of Braintree and Patricia Thompson of Dorchester and many dear friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, Thursday morning at 10. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday 4 to 7 PM. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
