David F. Meade, Jr., age 70, of West Bridgewater, died July 8, 2016 at New England Sinai Hospital following a period of failing health. David was the loving husband of the late Judith M. (Landry) Meade. He was born in Brockton, son of the late David F. and Ida (Lawrence) Meade. David was a 1964 graduate of Brockton High School where he was Captain of the Golf Team, and attended Northeastern University. Prior to his illness, he was President and CEO of the United Way, and previously worked at the Brockton Enterprise as a General Manager for over thirty years. David was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Nicholas. He was a member of the Plymouth Rock BassMasters, had once been voted Rotarian of the Year, and was heavily involved in youth sports programs.
David is survived by two daughters Kristen Geer and her husband Brian of Brockton and Lindsay Kelliher and her husband Dean, Jr. of Plymouth; five grandchildren Joshua, Madison, Aislyn, Cole and Shae, lifelong friends Jack and Beverly Bottini, and many friends and family. He was the brother of the late Susan L. Meade.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9am for a funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
