William Joseph “Joey” Marchant, Sr., 51, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Greg Sheppard and the Rev. James Irions officiating. Mr. Marchant will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 16, 2016, immediately following the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Goddard, Jeremy Dorminy, Tommy Gray, Royce Hill, Carroll Gray "Uncle Buddy", Sharon Marchant and J. R. McClain.
Born September 4, 1964 in Tifton, Mr. Marchant was the son of Willie James Marchant, Sr. of Tifton and the late Joyce Ann Smith Nasworthy. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by a son, William Joseph Marchant, Jr. He was self-employed as an equipment operator; liked to fish, hunt and go camping; and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, Mr. Marchant is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William Joshua and Iris Marchant of Washington State; three daughters, Mikki Pippin and Jessica Espinoza, both of Tifton and Larissa Marchant and her fiancé, Jason Harris of Enigma; a brother, Dale Nasworthy of Tifton; three sisters, Gina Gordon of Fitzgerald, Jennifer Marchant of Texas and Casey Marchant of Florida; six grandchildren, Allie Marchant, Alyssa Marchant, Joslyn Pippin, Milei Pippin, Jaiden Espinoza and Emma Marchant; a niece, Trina Dewees; and a nephew, Chip Dotson.
