Lillian R. Ladieu, 93, of 30 County Dr. and formerly of 14 Morrill St. died May 20, 2002 in the Belknap County Home. A lifelong resident of Laconia, she was born here on May 30, 1908, the daughter of Edward and Obeline (Labbe) Dickson.
She was a communicant of sacred Heart parish and was a very active member of the parish. Mrs. Ladieu served seven years on the Parish Council, including four years as President of the council. She was a member of the Ladies of Sacred Heart since 1944 and served as president for many years. She was also active in the parish sponsored Girl Scouts and received an award for her contributions to Girl Scouting.
She was a member of the Catholic daughters of America and served as Past Grand Regent. Lillian served on the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Council of Catholic Women and was a past president of the Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women. In addition she was a charter member and active for many years with the Christmas Fair Committee and in 1988 was awarded the Communicant of the Year by the parish.
Her husband, Ray Ladieu died December 20, 1992.
Many will remember her as an avid reader and solver of cross word puzzles. She also thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo at several Laconia locations.
Family members include two daughters, Joan L. Peck and her husband Richard Peck of Concord, and Elaine L. Baillargeon and her husband Robert Baillargeon of Gilford; a son, Alan E. Ladieu and his wife Marguerite Ladieu of Marlboro, MA; five grandchildren, Mark Mayo of Londonderry NH, Michael Mayo of W. Boylston MA, Lori Pulisciano of Marlboro MA, John Ladieu of Marlboro MA and Jeffrey Baillargeon of Burlington VT; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family of thirteen children.
Calling hours were held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, Pastor was the celebrant. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Memorial Mass Trust, 291 Union Ave. Laconia NH 03246 or to the Belknap County Home Activities Fund, 30 County Dr., Laconia NH 03246. Timothy C.
