Mrs. Anna M. (Doherty) Maye, of Taunton, died Tuesday, June 28 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward L. Maye. She was born 82 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late George and Aldea (Martin) Doherty. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, Anna had been employed as Head Clerk for the City of Taunton Street Department for 28 years. She was a member of the Womens Bowling League at Ryan’s Lanes in Raynham. She also attended dance classes at the Raynham Senior Center, and was also a member of the YMCA in Taunton. Anna was an avid softball player during her younger years, playing for many teams in Taunton. She also enjoyed shopping and taking long walks with her grand-dog Louie. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Parish in Taunton.
She leaves: 2 sons: Edward Maye of Eureka, Calif., and Michael Maye of Taunton; 1 daughter: Linda Maye of No. Dighton; 1 sister: Shirley Thompson of Marina, Calif; 2 grandchildren: Daniel and Jena Rivard, and several nieces and nephews. Anna was also the sister of the late George Doherty of Taunton.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, July 2 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
