Obituary

New Bedford – Edna B. (Clark) Coleman, 81, of Dartmouth died July 18, 2005 after a brief illness at The Oaks. She was the widow of Merton Coleman.

Mrs. Coleman was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late James S. and Elizabeth H. (Alcock) Clark, and resided in the greater New Bedford area all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford High Scholl, class of 1941. She attended the Long Plain Baptist Church, Acushnet. She was employed for 34 years as an operator and supervisor by the former New England Telephone Company until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and did volunteer work for the Samaritans, Fall River and the Dartmouth Council on Aging. An accomplished knitter and crotcheter, she loved animals and was and avid fan of the Red Sox, Notre Dame and the Patriots.

Survivors include a stepson: Thomas Coleman and his wife Jeanne of Napierville, IL; 2 step-grandchildren; an aunt and several cousins.

Visitation 1 hour prior to funeral service on Thursday, July 21, 2005, 10-11 A.M.

Funeral service on Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society and Shelter Southcoast, 31 Ventura Drive, Dartmouth, MA 02747.

Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
