Virginia Pereira, age 79, of Swansea passed away after a long illness on June 27, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Eduardo M. Pereira. Born in Santa Barbara, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marianna (Viveiros) Barreira. Virginia loved to travel, cook and play cards. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband she leaves behind her daughter Deolinda Silva (husband Deodato John) of Somerset and son Antone C. Pereira (wife Maria Fatima) of East Providence; siblings Alvaro Barreira and Mary Marcelino, both of Fall River; grandchildren Aislynne Nichole Venancio, Nathan Edward Silva and Noah Stone Pereira; great-grandchildren Chaeli Lynne, Layla Elizabeth and Julian Michael Venancio; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Antone Barreira, Jr.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Thursday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Frances of Assisi Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
