Laconia-----Kenneth W. McComb Sr., age 75 of Old North Main Street, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 comforted by his loving wife, Jean and his children.
Ken was born on September 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Roy and Olga (Kuzak) McComb. He attended Ardsley High School in Ardsley, New York where he was the first 1,000 point scorer in the school’s basketball history. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on a full basketball scholarship. After college, he was selected a 10th round draft pick for the Philadelphia Warriors. He also played for Real Madrid in Spain.
Ken worked his entire life in the New York area for the Town of Greenburgh and the City of White Plains as a General Foreman for the Recreation and Parks departments. Following his retirement in 2003, Ken and his wife, Jean settled in Laconia, NH.
Ken adored his family. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 35 years and his loving three children, Kimberly Crowley-Browne and her husband, Gary of Orchard Park, NY; Dawn Gray and her husband, Kraig of Sandy Hook, CT; Kenneth Jr. and his wife, Ashley of Rye, NY and eight grandchildren: Shannon, Matt, Charlotte, Owen, Lincoln, Max, Mason and Chloe. He was so proud of each one of them.
He will be missed by his brother Dennis McComb of Newark, California and his wife, Jane; three brothers-in-law, Dr. Alonzo J. Drummond, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of San Antonio, TX, Bill Drummond and his wife, Judy of Hilton Head, SC and Greg Drummond and his wife, Cece of White Plains, NY along with eight nephews Michael, Denis, Greg, Brad, Robert, Daren, Ryan and Douglas and three nieces, Denise, Kristen, and Jessica.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 9:30 AM at the Chapel of the Divine Compassion, 52 North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603.
A private burial will follow at the family plot at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
