QUINEBAUG, CT – Ethel M. (Pratt) Chadwick, 84, of 8 Poulin Drive, died Monday, July 18, in the Hospice at Coes Pond, Worcester. Her husband of 61 years, John H. Chadwick, died in 2004.
She leaves 6 nephews, Robert H., Jarold E., Kenneth M., Philip J., Paul D. and Michael J. Landine and their families; a special great niece, Elizabeth Craine; and a most special great great nephew and great great niece, Nolin and Rebecca Craine.
She was born in Worcester and raised in Charlton, the daughter of Walter S. and Miriam K. (Milliken) Pratt. She lived in Dudley before moving here in 1950. She graduated from Charlton High School in 1939.
Mrs. Chadwick did clerical work in the personnel department at the American Optical Company in Southbridge before retiring. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Dudley, and served on many committees. She was a past deacon and past clerk. She was a longtime member and past president of the Ladies Benevolent Society, and was enthusiastically involved in its activities. She was an active member and past master of Dudley Grange Post #163. She was a member of the Black Tavern Historical Society. In Southbrige, she was a former member of the garden club and a 30 year member of the Cohasse Country Club.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, July 23, in the First Congregational Church, 135 Center Road, Dudley. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Donations are requested to the Jacobs Hall Restoration Fund, First Congregational Church, PO Box 1454, Dudley, MA 01571-1454. Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, is directing the arrangements.
