COCHITUATE: John Edward Pinkul, 92, died peacefully and comfortably with his family at his side on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 following a brief illness.
He was born in Wilmington on February 24, 1924 the son of the late John Pinkul and Elizabeth (Schwede) Pinkul.
He was the beloved and devoted husband for 68 years of the late Jennie Pearson (Fullick) Pinkul who died on July 29, 2014.
John was the loving father of Joan E. Pinkul of Cochituate and the late Nancy Ann Pinkul who died on June 10, 1964. Cherished grandfather of Gail Doyon and her husband Bryan Doyon of Wayland and Genna Robinson of Asheville, NC. His first great-grandchild is due in December of 2016.
John has been a longtime resident of Cochituate and graduated from the Boston Trade School. He served his country with pride and honor during World War II with the United States Army as a TEC/3 serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre especially in New Guinea.
He has been a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church with his family. John was the owner and proprietor of several Gulf Gas Stations in the Natick and Saxonville areas before his retirement. Upon retiring he was associated for several years in the Garage and Maintenance Division of the United States Postal Office in Framingham. He loved to do woodworking projects, maintain his perfect yard and loved to repair automobiles.
His family was the center of his life, especially his granddaughters. He loved to see them spending time in the family backyard pool and doing all of their activities.
At John’s request private family graveside services will be held at the Pinkul family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Jennie and their daughter Nancy Ann.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in John’s memory may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive, Natick, MA 01760.
