Obituary

HAVERHLL: Raymond L. Marino, 83, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (Curtin) Marino with whom he shared fifty-four years of marriage.

Born in Haverhill on August 1, 1932 he was the son of the late John and Anna E. (Degason) Marino. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Bradford and Haverhill.
He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and received and an Associate’s Degree in Arts from Northern Essex Community College. A U.S. Coast Guard Veteran he served our country for four years as a radio operator aboard the Boston Lightship stationed in Boston Harbor.

Raymond was employed as a senior land planner for the Department of Environmental Protection in Boston until his retirement in 2004. He also worked as a certified instructor in the evenings at Whittier Vocational Technical School. He had a keen in interest in Ham radios and held a license for over sixty years and was a familiar voice over the airwaves. Along with his family he spent countless days at their home in Effingham, New Hampshire where they enjoyed swimming, canoeing and fishing on the Pine River, always enjoying the beauty of the White Mountains with family and friends. Raymond will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He will be forever missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Paul Marino and his wife, Leeann of Salem, NH; one sister, Patricia Hamilton and her husband, Frank of Wolfeboro, NH; one brother-in-law, John Curtin and his wife, Nancy of Haverhill; three sister-in-laws, Patricia Vivenzio and her husband, Ken of Seabrook, NH, Sharon Cyr and her husband, Rodney of Haverhill and Vernice Curtin of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, David Curtin.
