Elva (Stowell) Gleason, age 95, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016. Elva was born in Newark, NJ and moved to Pittsfield at the age of 8 where she lived for 80 years, before moving to Hingham in 2008. She was a past member of the St. Charles Sodality and the Women’s Club in Pittsfield.
Elva was the loving wife of the late Leo R. Gleason and is survived by her children, Mary McCarthy of Scituate, Leo F. Gleason and his wife Barbara of Framingham, Kathleen Juliano of Ashby, John Gleason and his wife Karen of Nashua, NH. She also leaves her brother Thomas E. Stowell and his wife Linda of Bend, OR, 11 grandchildren and 11 great Grandchildren. Elva is predeceased by her daughters, Elva Gleason and Ann Doughty.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Friday, June 24 from 4-8 PM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Friends and Relatives will gather at the funeral home for a celebration of life on Saturday at 9:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass which will be held at the Resurrection Church, 1057 Main St. Hingham at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 222 Pecks Rd. in Pittsfield on Monday, June 27 at 12 Noon.
