Obituary

Mona Claire Goguen, 69, of 343 Old Lakeshore Road, Gilford, died on Friday afternoon, July 15, 2005 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.

Mona was the daughter of the late Louis X. and Emma (Bergeron) Dauphinais. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on July 31, 1935. She was raised in Fitchburg, MA, living in the Fitchburg and Leominster, MA area for most of her life. She had lived in the Lakes Region area in NH for the past 17 years.

At the time of her death Mona was employed at Molex, Inc. in Gilford. Previously she has worked at the former Kmart in Gilford, Granite State Finishing in Nashua, and Seth Thomas in Fitchburg. She was a member of the Laconia Indian Historic Association, and NHINAC.

Mona cherished her Micmac heritage and frequently participated in PowWow’s throughout the Northeast. Loving the outdoors and nature Mona enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, and gardening. Time spent with her family and her cats were very special to her. She was also an avid reader, and had a great interest in Genealogy.

Mona was predeceased by her husband; Ronald L. Goguen in 1994, and a son, Bruce M. Goguen in 1987. She was also predeceased by six brothers, Robert, Leon, Normand, Louis, Raymond, and Francis Dauphinais, and one sister, Jeannette Paradise.

Mona is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Goguen, Jr. and his wife Robin of Hudson, NH, and Philip D. Goguen and his wife Sally of Port Charlotte, FL. Two brothers, Donald Dauphinais of Baldwinville, MA, and Ed Dauphinais of Melbourne, FL. One sister, Pauline Boudreau of Mesa, AZ. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her native sister and brother, Brenda and Bob Turner of Laconia also survive her.


Funeral Services were held at the Pieta in St. Joseph Cemetery, 486 Clarendon St., Fitchburg, MA on Thursday July 21, 2005 at 10:00 am. Burial followed in the family lot. Family and friends were invited to attend. There were no visiting hours.
