Carmen Poliseno, age 99 of Brockton, died Friday June 17, 2016 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband for 75 years of Theresa (Cappiello) Poliseno. Carmen was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Amato and Amelia Poliseno and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He was a 1935 graduate of Brockton High School.
During WWII Carmen served in the US Army in the European Theatre. He was part of the first wave of troops to land in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. After serving in Northern France and the Rhineland he earned the European and African Eastern Theatre Victory medal.
Carmen retired from the Brockton Post office as distribution clerk after many years of service. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing cards at the Club National and attending DAV meetings at the Brockton VA Medical Center where he would share stories with other disabled veterans.
Carmen enjoyed spending time with his family and was happiest when he was working and being able to provide special treats or gifts to his children. He was very proud of his service to our country.
In addition to his beloved wife Theresa, Carmen is survived by his three children Amelia “Mimi” Hennen and her husband Leo of Raynham, Doreen Mahoney and her husband Robert of W. Bridgewater and David Poliseno and his wife Sandy of Marshfield. He also leaves 6 grandchildren Gary Hennen, Tanya Hennen Sullivan, Michael Garrity, Kim Garrity Dadasis, Ashley and Teri Poliseno; 7 great grandchildren Courtney Svenson, Mathew Hennen, Louis, Michael, William and Jason Dadasis and Michael K. Garrity and one great great grandson Jordan Hennen. Carmen was the brother of Roland Poliseno of W. Bridgewater and the late Albert, Americo, Samuel and Armand Poliseno, Rose Piver and Gloria Graciewicz. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and best friends Eddie and Marie Guaraldi.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 5-8pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
