Edwin Gwozdz, 72, of Acushnet died July 14, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Frances M. (Machon) Gwozdz.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Stanislaus and Mary V. (Kalisz) Gwozdz, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet in 1972.
Mr. Gwozdz was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet.
He was formerly employed by New England Telephone for many years until his retirement from NYNEX and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Gwozdz served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, golfing, bowling, gardening, traveling and working on his computer.
Survivors include his wife, a brother, Stephen Gwozdz of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Genevieve Ziemba of Rumford, R.I., Suzanne Bland of New Bedford, and Rita Mulligan and her husband John of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Walter Gwozdz.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Monday, July 18th at 7:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Sunday, July 17th from 4-7 PM.
Interment Riverside Cemetery.
