Joao N. Monteiro, 51, of New Bedford died June 10, 2016 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Laura G. (Gomes) Monteiro.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of Maria (Neves) Monteiro of New Bedford and the late Autilio Monteiro Pina, he lived in New Bedford for the last 25 years.
Mr. Monteiro was a member of the New Bedford Portuguese Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He was formerly employed by AFC Cable for 16 years until his illness.
Mr. Monteiro enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he was a handyman who liked to help others.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Wilson Monteiro, Elton Monteiro and Jerrick Monteiro, all of New Bedford; a daughter, Stacy Monteiro of New Bedford; a brother, John Pina of New Bedford; a sister, Palmira Lobo of Dartmouth; 2 grandchildren, Na'shajia and Camryn; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, June 13th at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Service at the New Bedford Portuguese Seventh-Day Adventist Church. at 11 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 12th from 4-8 PM.
