Obituary

WAYLAND: Maria (Mayo) Kwiatkowski, age 85, a longtime Wayland resident, died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Stanley R. Tippet Hospice Home in Needham on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. She was the devoted wife of Joseph S. Kwiatkowski for 63 years.

Born in Boston and raised in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Constance (Sansone) Mayo. Maria was a 1948 graduate of Belmont High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Merchandising in 1950 at Briarcliff Junior College in New York. She continued her education at Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. She and Joseph were married in 1953 and lived in East Islip prior to settling in Waltham in 1962. They have lived in Wayland for the past 32 years.

Maria was employed for many years as a customer service representative for Lechmere Sales in Framingham. For the past twenty years, she and Joseph had split their time between their Wayland home and one in Fort Meyers, Florida, where Maria was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a lady who enjoyed her home and family, socializing with friends, and the occasional jaunt to Foxwoods.

Predeceased by a son, Joseph W. Kwiatkowski in 1990, she is survived by her husband, Joseph; their daughter, Konnie Murphy of Wayland; three granddaughters, Meghan, Michaela, and Marlena Murphy, all of Natick; and her sister, Margie Garrett of Centerville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Friday, June 10th at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
