Lillian H. (Sherman) Pernock, age 91 of Norton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the embracing love of her family on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Norwood Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Pernock who died on November 3, 2001.
Born in Boston, MA on August 25, 1924, she was a loving daughter of the late Robert E. and Margaret J. (Joyce) Sherman. She grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke School for Girls.
Mrs. Pernock was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, and when younger, along with her late husband, was a singer and member of the former Foxfield Echo’s.
Lillian had made her home in Norton for the past 7 years and had previously resided in Mansfield for over 45 years. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Lillian’s favorite times were focused on her family. She looked forward to the holidays, especially family Christmas parties. Her hobbies included painting, singing and watching and feeding the birds that frequented her yard.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children Patricia E. Cummings and her partner John Hurd of Norton, Barbara A. Austin and her partner Joseph Waseleski of Foxboro, Janet T. Paza and her husband Robert of Mansfield, Paula F. Herrick of Norton, Michael J. Pernock and his partner Joan Piantedosi of Mansfield, Joseph G. Pernock and his partner Katherine Richards of North Attleboro, Robert E. Pernock of Norton, George C. Pernock of Mansfield and Richard D. Pernock and his wife Nancy of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of Margaret Foley of Milton, Rita Day of West Roxbury, Jack Sherman of Virginia, and the late Helen Kamer, Esther Kallenberg, Marie Butler, Robert Sherman and William Sherman. She is also survived by her cherished 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, her sister in law Peggy Pernock of Niorton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and fiends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, June 13th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
