Joseph Butera, of Stoneham, formerly of the North End and East Boston, died Wednesday in the Harborside Nursing Home, Wakefield. He was 86.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, Joseph lived most of his life there and in East Boston.. He resided in Stoneham for the past 8 years. Joe worked as a meat cutter in several Boston area markets. He was a member of the North End Council of the Knights of Columbus.
He was the beloved husband of Jennie (Bono). He was the brother of Annie Mucera of Melrose, Mary Gianci of Andover and several deceased brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many caring brothers in-law, sisters-in-law, many dear nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Saturday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 2 - 4 and 7 – 9. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
