North Smithfield
Joseph O.R. Marquis 84, of North Smithfield, died Thursday, June 2, in the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Mary (Hoskins) Marquis. Mr. Marquis was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Florien and Rose Aimee (Joly) Marquis, but was a North Smithfield resident most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Marquis was the owner/operator of Delta Maintenance for many years retiring in 1999. He enjoyed working in his yard, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Cynthia Gagne and her husband Dennis of North Smithfield, Brenda Marquis of Warwick, a son, Gary Marquis and his wife Michelle of Brooklyn CT, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers; Roger Marquis of MD, and Robert Marquis of Acton, ME, and one sister Jacqueline Guilbault of FL. He was also the grandfather of the late Joseph Gagne, and brother of the late Florien Marquis Jr.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, Church St, Slatersville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 4-7PM.
