Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Conlon) McCarthy, a 33 year resident of Stoneham and formerly of Arlington, passed away suddenly at her home in Stoneham on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She was 79 years old.
Betty was born in Boston on November 19, 1936, a daughter of the late John Conlon and Catherine (Woodford) Conlon. She grew up in Cambridge where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Cambridge Latin High School in 1954. Betty worked as a Bookkeeper for over 17 years at Tyler & Reynolds Law Firm in Boston. She enjoyed traveling and took great pleasure visiting Mohegan Sun with family and friends.
Betty is the beloved wife of the late Timothy J. McCarthy Jr. She is the devoted mother of Timothy J. McCarthy of Stoneham, Teresa Corrigan and her husband William of Wakefield and John "Mike" McCarthy and his wife Janet of Woburn. She is the loving Nana to Meaghan Corrigan, Elizabeth "Beth" McCarthy, Mary McCarthy and the late Paige Corrigan. She is the beloved sister of Geraldine Bourke of Reading, Joseph Gasper of Lowell and the late Mary Clarke and Gerald Gasper. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St. Stoneham on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be at the Funeral Home on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham.
