Mrs. Claire M. (Beaulieu) Martin Hathaway, of Taunton, died Wednesday, June 1 in Marian Manor following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Martin and the late Allen F. “Porky” Hathaway. She was born 91 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Henry J. and Marie Rose (Proulx) Beaulieu. Claire was educated in Taunton, having graduated from Taunton High School, Class of 1942. She was a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a Manager for the former New England Telephone, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and was a Eucharistic Minister at the former Immaculate Conception Parish in Taunton, where she was involved in many parish activities. Claire enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
She leaves: 4 daughters: Margaret A. (Martin) Coulombe and her husband, J. Thomas of Taunton, Louise F. (Martin) Tarbox and her husband, Timothy S. of Coventry, R.I., Carol M. (Martin) Rubin and her husband Howard M. of Wakefield, Ma., and Elaine C. (Martin) Turner Hutchins and her husband Theodore of Taunton; a daughter-in-law: Elaine Martin of Taunton. 1 brother: Paul F. Beaulieu and his wife, Joan F. of Enfield, Ct.; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Claire was also the mother of the late Richard J. Martin, and the sister of the late Henry P. Beaulieu and Laurent J. Beaulieu.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, June 6 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M
