Dennis Gallagher, 58, of Minoru St. died Wednesday July 13th at home. He was the Loving husband of Maureen “Micki” (Bowers) Gallagher. They were married 30 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John “Red” and Constance (Wilks) Gallagher. He had been a lifelong resident of Smithfield.
Dennis was employed for 20 years at Electric Boat in both Quonset and Groton as a welder and teacher. He had also worked at Narragansett Electric for 22 years as a welder and teacher. Dennis was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the outdoors. Dennis will be deeply missed by his family and friends who cherished the kindness and warmth he shared with all who knew him.
He was a member of the IBEW and the Smithfield Elks. He was active in many town activities and leagues.
Besides his wife, he leaves six children, Dennis Gallagher, Jr. and Jenifer Dube both of Smithfield, Kimberly Blanchette of Danielson, CT, Lorna Jones of Steubin, ME, Melissa Labossiere of Brooklyn, CT and Michele Wiik of Danielson, CT; 2 sisters, Maureen Patterson of Blanford, MA and Janice Green of Smithfield; 2 brothers, Jack Gallagher of Burrillville and Steven Gallagher of Chatham, NY; 11 grandchildren, two step grandchildren.
