TEWKSBURY: Robert C. Polcaro, age 75, a resident of Tewksbury for 50 years, formerly of the Allston-Brighton area of Boston, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on May 25, 2016.
He was the beloved husband of Joyce A. (Cannon) Polcaro, with whom he would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on September 6, 2016.
Born in Boston on January 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Angelo and Rose (Astore) Polcaro.
Bob attended Allston schools.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 15 years as a truck driver by the Teamsters Local 49 for Trans Gas Company of Lowell. In addition, he co-founded and operated the P.C. Trucking Company of Tewksbury.
Bob was an active member of the Tewksbury community, and was instrumental in the founding and served as a coach for the Tewksbury Youth Hockey and Skating Program.
In addition, Bob was a member of the C.F.A. (Cat Fancier Association) and the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks # 2070.
He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Robert C. Polcaro of Tewksbury, Marlene C. Polcaro of Winchendon, Sandra M. Polcaro of Ashburnham, and Richard W. Polcaro and his wife Anne Marie (Byrd) of Tewksbury; nine grandchildren, Robert, Cassandra, Brittany, Crissy, Michael, Melissa, Kathy, Erica, and Kevin; seventeen great grandchildren including Tabitha; one brother, Angelo Polcaro, Jr. of Watertown; his sister-in-law, Patricia (Bye) Polcaro of Weymouth; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Bob was the brother of the late Richard W. Polcaro.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 31, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Graveside service at 10 a.m. at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury.
