Edward McCauley of South Boston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He is a graduate of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross High School and the University of Baltimore, and worked for many years in social services. Ed is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps. He was an expert marksman and earned many citations and campaign medals, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Henry J. and Claire (Madden) McCauley-Deibel, his stepfather, Joseph W. Deibel, Sr., his brothers, Robert L., Barry J. and Garry J. McCauley, and his niece, Claire “Joni” Brennan. He is survived by his siblings Lawrence J., Michael H., Marie A., Claire (Brennan), Patricia (Burdick), Mary H., Joseph W. Deibel, Jr., James F. Deibel, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visiting at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Avenue, Milton, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 28th at 8:00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary’s Road, Milton. Ed will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 12:30 PM.
Immediately following the funeral, friends and family are invited to the home of Megan Brennan, Ed’s godchild, for light refreshments.
