Obituary

Hanson – Donald “Dodo” Pina 90 of Hanson, MA died on May 19, 2016 at the NE Sinai Hospital of Stoughton after a long illness.

Born in Cohasset on March 15, 1926 one of ten children born to Moses and Mary (Barroes) Pina.
He attended grade school, but in 1941 during WWII and at the age of fifteen Dodo joined the Navy & Seabees where he received two purple hearts.
He repaired transmissions for over fifty years. Thirty years servicing the Brockton area before becoming self-employed for the next twenty years.
He loved tinkering with cars. His pride and joy was his 1969 Cadillac which he remodeled and entered in many auto shows, earning him many trophies.
He loved music; he taught himself how to play many instruments, guitar, bass guitar, organ, piano and accordion. He even played in a band with his brothers.
Dodo was very well known in the community, it was not unusual to drive by his home and find four or five people sitting around his driveway talking, laughing and sharing funny stories. He was a very witty and caring man.

Dodo was the husband of the late Pauline (Monteiro) Pina for sixty-seven years and brother of Margaret (Pina) Miranda of New York.
He leaves behind two daughters and a son, Kathleen (Pina) Barboza of Columbia, TN, Donna (Pina) Almeida of Halifax and Donald Pina, Jr. of Marshfield. He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dodo will truly be missed by all.

His funeral service will be held Friday May 27 at 8:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral at 9:00 AM in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Halifax. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Thursday May 26 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
