A long time resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Ronald E. States, passed away at home on Friday, May 20, 2016. She was 78 years old.
Born in Everett, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Vincent Holmes and Irene (Frazier) Holmes. Mrs States worked for Honeywell for nearly thirty years and became a Resource Manager in Waltham for many years. She received her Bachelors Degree at Salem College and originally wanted to be a teacher. She was a Deans Assistant at Tuffs University and then became a team member for the Board of Health at the Medford City Hall. She did Yoga at the West Medford Community Center and was a member of Wise Women of the Word and Watooto Group as well as participating in Bible Studies at the Grace Episcopal Church in Medford. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters Renee A. Howard of Medford and Audrey E. Tucker of Bermuda and her grandchildren, Alicia R. Tucker, Ashley E. Tucker and Andrea R. Howard and her great grandchildren Noah Tucker Richardson and Ava-Rose Tucker Richardson. She is predeceased by her brothers Gilbert Holmes and John Holmes.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 1:30 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 5 to 8 PM. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
