Edward J. Simakauskas,82, of 43 Hastings Rd., died Monday, July 11
at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
He was the husband of Aldona A. (Yablonski) Simakauskas who died in 1988. He
leaves two sons Stephen M. and his wife Christine Simakauskas and Alan E.
and his wife June Simakauskas all of Spencer, five daughters Patricia J.
Simakauskas, Susan E. and her husband David Berthiaume and Elaine J. and her
husband Richard Jaquith all of Spencer, Carol A. and her husband Yacoub
Al-Awadi of Kuwait, and Ann M. and her husband Edwin Frusti of SanDiego,
Calif., a sister Lillian Sviklas of Worcester, 18 grand, and 3 great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simakauskas was a product engineer at U.S. Steel & Wire Corp. in
Worcester for 27 years, before retiring in 1979. He served in the Army Air
Corps during WWII.
He graduated from Commerce High and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in
Worcester with a degree in electrical engineering.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church where he was a lector for
17 years, former President and longtime member of the Spencer-E.Brookfield
Little League, former member of the Spencer Finance Committee. He enjoyed
life with his family and grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 15 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON
FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of
the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester
County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, July 14 from 5 to
8p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Prouty Booster
