Zonia L. (Christopher) Raffa, 59, of New Bedford died July 10, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Peter Raffa.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Egbert F. and Esther L. (Offley) Christopher, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Raffa was a member of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Nation and her tribal name was Growing Corn Woman.
She was employed as a certified nurses assistant, receptionist and secretary at Sacred Heart Nursing Home for over 20 years.
Mrs. Raffa enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and painting art.
Survivors include her husband; 2 brothers, Albert F. Christopher of Wilbraham, MA and Maurice W. Christopher of New Bedford; a sister, Esther L. Bridgeforth of New Bedford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Egbert F. "Peekeye" Christopher, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday, July 14th at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Peckham West Cemetery.
Visiting hours Wednesday, July 13th from 5-8 PM.
