Nancy Ann Maher, 76, of Londonderry, NH passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 15, 1940 in Lynn, MA, a daughter of Blair and Lois (Gallagher) Mehan. Nancy was raised in Lynn, MA, moving to Londonderry, NH in 1978. She proudly served her country in the US Air Force. Nancy loved to go shopping, especially for clothing. She managed the Londonderry School Cafeteria. Nancy led a life full of service to others from working with youth in Lynn, MA to helping the refugees from the Congo. She will be remembered for the sage advice she offered to everyone – “Always be honest and always be yourself.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Ronald Maher of Londonderry, one son, Brian Maher of Derry, two daughters, Julie Donovan and her husband Jeff and Sheila Maher, all of Londonderry, four grandchildren, Conor, Nicholas, Megan, and Robbie, three great grandchildren, Kylie, Liam and Ava, one brother, Blair Mehan and his wife Joanne of Byfield, MA, nieces, Patricia and Caleigh, cousins, Jay Hancock, Steven Bearden, Sheila LoChiatto and her husband Joe and their daughter Natalie, as well as close friends Shirley and Normand, Chaun, Linda, Marsha, Alyssa, Sylvia, Karen, Margie, Jane and Bob.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2016 from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Catholic Prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pillsbury Cemetery, Hovey Road, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830 or to any No-Kill Animal Shelter.
