Obituary

Rodney “Ronnie” Judson Phillips, 65, of Tifton passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, peacefully at his home after a long illness. Per Mr. Phillips’ request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born February 17, 1951, in Colquitt, Ronnie was the son of the late Lewis Monroe Phillips and Mamie Odom Phillips. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Nancy Belle Phillips Shiver, Mary MaggieLean Phillips, Patricia Anne Phillips Sellars Cavanaugh and Linda Dianne Phillips Howard; and four brothers, Lowell Monroe “Phil” Phillips, James Andrew Jackson, Jimmy Everette Phillips Sellars and Lewis Glenn Phillips Sellars. He was a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. After serving with the United States Marine Corps, he was employed as a long-distance truck driver, until his health forced him to retire. He truly enjoyed fishing with his friend, A. W. Wilson of Omega.

Ronnie is survived by a son, William Phillips of Reynolds; two loving sisters and their husbands, Wanda and Steve Webb and Sondra and Neal Wiley; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, James Lewis and Ida Phillips, Lewis Monroe Phillips II, Lester Burl and Beverly Phillips and Dereck Allen and Bethany Phillips.

Ronnie’s family wishes to thank Hospice of Tift Area and Kimberly and Van of Mrs. Linda Gray's Nursing Staff, for sitting with him all day and keeping him as comfortable as possible in his time of need.
