Obituary

Worcester- Nellie (Mita) Russek, 93, a resident of the Westborough Healthcare Center, formerly of Shrewsbury and Worcester, died Friday, July 8, in the center.
She leaves her husband of 64 years, Alphonse Russek; two daughters, Arlene M. Bigos and her husband Joseph of Worcester and Judith A. Renihan and her husband Thomas of Shrewsbury; a son-in-law, Gerald King formerly of Auburn; nine granddaughters; thirteen great grandchildren; a great great grandson; nephews and nieces. Another daughter, Barbara H. King of Auburn, died in 1989. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Teddy C. Mita, and two sisters, Jean M. Fayard and Helen Mita. She was born in Lublin, Poland, daughter of Frank and Mary (Jakubaszek) Mita and moved to the United States in 1924 and lived in Worcester, before moving to Shrewsbury in 1986. She moved to Westborough in 1994.
Mrs. Russek was a baker at State Mutual Life Insurance Co., for 10 years, retiring in 1972. Previously she was a baker at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11, in the funeral home. Contributions in Nellie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
