Frances “Fran” L. Baxter, 66 of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Baxter was born in Lowell, MA on February 24, 1939, a daughter of the late George and Katherine (Gilchrist) Albrecht. She was a resident of Derry for 30 years, formerly living in Pelham, NH and Lowell. Mrs. Baxter grew up in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School. She moved to Derry in 1975. She was a Life Member of Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, Post 1617, Derry. She was very active in the VFW and Auxiliary with her husband and was a member of the "Cooties," traveling and visiting veterans in various hospitals. She enjoyed roller skating, bingo and was active in the Pillsbury House. She enjoyed helping and assisting others. She loved the Red Sox. Her granddaughter Shannon held a special place in her heart and she loved being called "Nana."
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Sonia of Miramar, FL, Brian Sonia and his wife Kelly of Derry, Scott Sonia and his wife Leslie of Carroll, NH, and a granddaughter, Shannon Korey Sonia of Derry, NH. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul B. Baxter in 2002 and also by her brother, George "Duke" Albrecht.
Visiting hours were held from 2-4pm Sunday, July 10th in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Following cremation graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 12th at 10:00am in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
