Obituary

McCormack, Dennis Edward. Age 74, of Dorchester, April 21, 2016. Beloved husband for almost 33 years to his “bride” Maureen (Mitchell) McCormack. Loving father of Scott of Manchester, NH, Edward “Ted” and his wife Wendy of Kingston, NH, and Timothy and his wife Tamara of Whitman, MA. Proud grandfather of 14 year old Ayden and 13 year old Emily of Whitman, MA. Devoted son of the late Henry and Eileen (Connick) of Winchester, MA. Loyal brother to William M. of Naples, FL, Henry Joseph, Jr. of South Boston, the late Mary Eileen Heisick of California, Diane E. of Dorchester, MA, and Maureen L. of Winchester, MA. He is survived by his uncle Robert Michael of Glastonbury, Conn. and his aunt Sister Rita McCormack, CSJ of Weymouth, MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was born in Winchester on January 11, 1942 where he attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Winchester High School in 1960. He attended Lowell Technical Institute and DeVry Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He worked as a technical writer as a contractor for Raytheon, RCA, and other companies. He lived in California and in Salem, NH. Dorchester has been his home for the past 33 years. He was a ham radio enthusiast (K1PLX) who belonged to the Providence Radio Club of Providence, RI for over 35 years. He was the past president of Single Squares where he met his bride, Maureen. He was a square dance caller for the Shuffling Smoothies of Melrose. Dennis was an avid collector of many things such as casino player cards, pens, hotel keys, and radio memorabilia. He spent several winters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dennis was a generous man to his family, friends, and community. Even in death, he chose to make an anatomical gift of his body to the New England Organ Bank. This gift will benefit many children and adults. His family thanks the Winchester Hospital for their excellent care throughout his life.
There will be a Memorial Mass on May 28, 2016, at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church on Washington Street in Winchester, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to this celebration of Dennis’ life.
