Eugene A. Schmitt, 93, of Lincoln Drive, Londonderry, NH, died July 7, 2005, after a period of declining health. He was born on April 9, 1912 in Rifton, NY, the son of Adolph and Barbara (Gold) Schmitt. Prior to moving to New Hampshire in 2000, Mr. Schmitt spent most of his adult life on Long Island, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and long walks on the beach. Mr. Schmitt was the owner and operator of Schmitt Distributors Inc., located in Hewlett, NY until his retirement. He enjoyed a wonderful family life and was a most devoted husband, cherished father and loving grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Family members include his wife of 70 years, Margaret P. (Coy) Schmitt of Londonderry; two daughters, Melita Fanning of Huntington Station, NY and Margene Rasnic of Hooksett NH; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his loving son, Douglas E. Schmitt in 2003.
A calling hour was held on Friday, July 8, 2005 from 7 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Peter Church, North State St., Concord NH. Burial followed in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.
