Obituary

Lillian (Barboza) Myers, 88, of New Bedford, formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday April 16, 2016.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonia and Henry Barboza, she resided in Brockton (known as Madrinha) and Boston most of her life, and returned to reside in New Bedford for the past three years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Lillian was formerly employed as a youth counselor at the YMCA in Brockton. She had also been a photographer at the Sugar Shack in Boston and was known as "Sugar Shack Lil."
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Bemberry Rivera of Quincy; a sister, Sandra Santos of New Bedford; two stepsisters, Louise Grace of New Bedford and Cynthia Almeida of Arizona; two stepchildren, Jonalyn Bradshaw and John Bradshaw of Randolph; two nieces, Joyce Antunes Barboza of Texas and Arlene Silva of New Bedford; two nephews, James Gonsalves and Robert Gonsalves of Fall River; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and an extensive extended family.
She was the mother of the late Albert B. Myers and aunt of the late Leonard Gonsalves.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
