…former owner of Lord Tool and Die in Dudley; 71
TEWKSBURY - Charles Shapleigh Lord, age 71, died peacefully on Monday morning, April 11, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, after a long and courageous battle with respiratory illness.
He was born in July, 1944, in Portland, Maine, a son of the late Henry and Stella (Burgess) Lord, and raised in Deer Island, Maine. Upon graduation from High School, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War.
Upon his honorable discharge, he settled in the Whitinsville and Uxbridge areas of Massachusetts, where he went on to start Lord Tool and Die with his skills as a machinist. He attended W.P.I. enrolled in their computer science program. He was also remembered for his long time hobby as a Ham Radio operator, licensed as “N1WAS.”
He leaves four children, Eric H. Lord and his wife Jennifer of Whitinsville, Amanda L. Noel and her husband Joseph of Uxbridge, Rebecca M. Lord of Cherry Valley, and John T. Lord of Webster, MA; four grandchildren, Sara Lord, Eric M. Lord, Victoria Ditaranto and Ryan Ditaranto; and many cousins.
He was the former husband of the late Linda (Scott) Lord, and Rosemarie Church of FL; and was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Ford.
At his request, funeral services were private. Arrangements were through the Tewksbury Funeral Home.
